Verdict for defendants accused in preparation of terrorist acts be announced today
ASTANA. August 14. KAZINFORM - Today court of Astana will announce the verdict in the high-profile case of "Astana terrorists" accused of promoting extremism, preparation of terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the assassination attempt on the country's leadership, according to the press service of the Astana court.
"On Wednesday, August 14, in a specialized inter-district criminal court in Astana will be announced the verdict on "Koshalakov's case". A group of six men accused of plotting terrorist acts, assassination attempt on the country's leadership and promoting extremism", informs the official web-site of the Astana court press service.
NOTE: The main trial in "case of the Astana terrorists" began in May 2013. At the defendants bench are S.Koshalakov, A.Sharipov, B.Abdikerov, E.Kadirsizov, A.Kaskabaev and S.Zhunusov. They are accused of conspiring for preparation of explosion and other actions with the use of weapons and explosive devices, creation of a terrorist group, stealing weapons and ammunition and other serious crimes.
According to the preliminary investigation the terrorist group, led by Koshalakov, planned to blow up the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana, the attack on the building of the Capital Department of National Security Committee and organizing assassination attempt on senior officials of Kazakhstan.
The press service of the court of Astana clarify that the process of the high-profile case was closed. Sentencing is scheduled for August 14, 2:30 pm.
