V Forum of NGOs held in Almaty
ATY. September 4. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ V Almaty forum of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) "Authority and NGOs: through Civil Society to International Community" has taken place today in Almaty.
From 11 thousand NGOs registered in Kazakhstan 6 thousand were registered in Almaty. According to Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov the city was always in the avant-garde of reforms in all spheres of social life. "The city is still the main center of socio-political and socio-economic life of the country. Today it is important to provide quality development of the third sector of the Kazakhstani society as well as to provide precise mechanisms for its interaction with authority. We know the main problems of NGOs concerning financing and information support", - he said.
The Mayor invited the NGOs to the constructive dialogue. "We hope to hear concrete proposals to address such issues and create certain mechanisms on interaction with NGOs", - the Mayor underlined. "Namely NGOs can develop effective mechanisms for harmonization and balance in relations between authorities and population promoting social stability".
An exhibition of socially significant projects implemented under the state social order in 2008 was held within the forum. The participants discussed the issues of employment and social protection, as well as the issues of environment, healthcare, education, culture, state language and youth policy.
