Uzbekistan, Tajikistan intend to raise commodity turnover to $1 billion

Dushanbe hosted a regular meeting of the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic Cooperation, chaired by the two countries’ prime ministers – Abdulla Aripov and Qohir Rasulzoda, Kazinform News Agency reports.

As the Uzbek Government informed, the heads of delegations pointed out growth of mutual commodity turnover in recent years which reached $757 million in 2023.

The sides expressed intention to boost cooperation in joint projects in industry, energy, agriculture and water economy, transport and logistics sectors, which will enable to raise the bilateral commodity turnover to $1 billion in the nearest years.

The participants also discussed the implementation of the project on the establishment of Uzbekistan-Tajikistan international near-border trade zone and  wholesale distribution centers in near-border regions for the export of agricultural products to third countries.
