US Congress holds briefing on prospects of economic development of Kazakhstan and achievements of Kazakh presidency in OSCE

ASTANA. September 16. KAZINFORM One of the important events of the visit program to Washington of the Kazakh delegation headed by First Vice Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev with participation of Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zhanar Aitzhanova was a briefing on state and prospects of economic development of Kazakhstan, bilateral trade-economic cooperation with the USA, interaction on the issues regarding the WTO as well as achievements and intentions of the Kazakh presidency in the OSCE in the US Congress.

The visit of the Kazakh delegation ran from September 13-15.

As the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in the USA informs, in the course of a meeting with Secretary of State Robert Blake in the Department of State the sides discussed the issues of bilateral interaction and cooperation on Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO as well as partnership within the framework of the OSCE. U.Shukeyev expressed gratitude of the Kazakh leadership for the US support of the Kazakh chairmanship in the OCE and the upcoming OSCE Summit in Astana.

They also discussed the Kyrgyz situation. The head of the Kazakh delegation informed of specific steps of Kazakhstan as the nearest neighbor of Kyrgyzstan and OSCE chair country on stabilization of the situation and the long-term economic rehabilitation of this country. the sides agreed to coordinate their efforts in this issue which has important significance for security and stability in Central Asia.
