US citizen detained by border patrol near Kazakh-Chinese border

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakh border patrol has detained a U.S. citizen near China border, the press service of the Frontier Service reports.
The 26-year-old California-born man was taken into custody for allegedly breaching the rules of stay for foreigners. The Kazakh Frontier Service said in a statement that the detainee had overstayed his visa. The man traveled via Aktau-Astana-Ust-Kamenogorsk-Uryl route and was on his way to Japan. Officials didn't immediately release the man's name. An investigation has been initiated.
