URGENT: President vetoes Constitutional Council's decision on impossibility of holding elections in Zhanaozen
ASTANA. January 10. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has put a veto on a decision of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on impossibility of holding elections in Zhanaozen, Mangystau region; the President's press service reports.
On January 10, 2012, the President made an objection to the Additional resolution of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of January 6, which implies impossibility of holding the elections of deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Maslikhats in Zhanaozen, Mangystau region.
Making an objection, the Kazakh President took into account anxiety and concern of the Zhanaozen residents over the fact that this decision of the Constitutional Council limits their voting rights provided by the Constitution and laws of the country.
