Urgent liver and kidneys transplantation successfully conducted in Astana

Due to well coordinated work of highly specialized doctors of the Central railway hospital and the Republican research center for emergency medicine, a 15-year-old girl, 45-year-old and 28-old-year woman came through urgent operations. The operation lasted 12 hours.

“At 23.00, on August 6, doctors of the Railway hospital pronounced death of a 45-year-old woman with diagnosis acute cerebrovascular accident. Close relatives gave their consent to organ recovery. Over 10 hours brigade of 12 doctors, including specialists of the Central railway hospital and the Republican research center for emergency medicine, conducted two operations. A liver was transplanted to a 15-year-old girl with diagnosis of biliary cirrhosis. A man aged 45 became the next patient to be prepared by medical workers for kidney transplantation. However, an appropriate recipient for the second kidney wasn’t in Astana. A woman from Aktau, Mangistau region, departed to the capital by the first flight, and 6 hours later she came through the operation conducted by doctors of RRCEM”, - tell the doctors.

It’s the second time when specialists of RRCEM cooperate with their colleagues from the Central railway hospital. The result of the first joint work was also succesful. That time a liver was transplanted to a 51-year-old woman from a dead person, whose spouse gave her consent to transplantation. Now the recipient feels very well.

“The process of such operations can not be considered as planned. It’s more likely an emergency. After a patient’s brain is dead, generally doctors ask his relatives a question which can save the life of another person. Sometimes to get this consent is the most difficult process in transplantology”, -say the doctors.
