UPDATE 1: Apple unveils iPhone 5 with larger screen, higher speed connectivity
SAN FRANCISCO. September 13. KAZINFORM Apple Inc. on Wednesday announced the latest model of its popular iPhone series of smartphones, featuring a larger screen and the capability to connect to the so-called LTE network for higher speed mobile data connection.
The iPhone 5, thinner, lighter and with a longer battery life than its predecessors, will go on sale on Sept. 21 in the United States and some other countries including Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, with a suggested retail price in the United States starting at $199, according to Apple, Kyodo reports.
The release is expected to fuel global competition in the smartphone market, which is currently dominated by Apple products and Android handsets such as those sold by South Korea's Samsung.
