UNWTO General Assembly's XVIII session to be held at high level - Eugenio Yunis

ANA. October 2. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The XVIII session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) starts its work in the Palace of Independence in Astana.

UNWTO Head of Programmes & Coordination Eugenio Yunis noted that the main topic of the session will be influence of the world economic crisis on tourism, measures, which are necessary for tourism development and tourism using in overcoming the crisis.

The second key issue will be elections of the Organization's secretary General. Eugenio Yunis reminded that according to the UNWTO rules, Secretary General's candidacy -Taleb Rifai - was elected at the last session of the Executive Committee.

"For the first time the General Assembly's session is being held in Eurasia. I am confident that it will be held at the high level", Eugenio Yunis said.

80 tourism ministers will take part in the UNWTO General Assembly's XVIII session. Two press conferences - on October 6 and 8 - will be rganized.

The UNWTO General Assembly's XVIII session will be officially opened on October 5.

120 states are the UNWTO member-states. It was created in 1925. Kazakhstan joined the UNWTO in 1993.
