Universities of Kazakhstan should aim innovations during next stage of industrial and innovative development - G. Mutanov
ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The universities of Kazakhstan have a great task on modernization during the next stage of industrial and innovative development. They need to target innovations now. The president set a task to build a prosperous society based on strong state, developed economy and universal labour. Thereat, the Head of State pays a lot of attention to the issues of building the economy based on knowledge primarily. Our university actively works in this direction, rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Academician Galym Mutanov told at the opening of the 45th scientific conference titled "Integration of education, science and business as the foundation of innovative development of the economy".
According to him, the university has been implementing a unique scientifically innovative project titled "Al-Farabi University - smart city" for two years already. The project will be the foundation for development of the university till 2020. The core of this new model is the teachings and ideas of great thinker Al-Farabi about an ideal city. He tried to imagine a fair and humane society which he called virtuous city. Its main peculiarities are universal spiritual values and cooperation in achieving the goals. This is where the comparisons lie. Modern universities must have a high level of spirituality and moral development. "Presently, our university came to a new level of development, this is actually the level that is universally called "smart" now. "Al-Farabi University - smart city" project is a new level and quality of the university, and implementation of this project will allow to reach new results - social, economic, scientific and cultural. Smart universities is a guarantee of the intellectual society, increase of the quality of the human capital of the country," the rector said. Al-Farabi University has successfully held modernization in all spheres of its activity over the recent years. A good spiritual, moral and intellectual platform has been formed which is now a basis of the new outlook of the university stuff. "At least two universities of Kazakhstan have to be in the top rankings of the universities of the world by 2020, and the President told about it multiple times. "Al-Farabi University - smart city" is a ground for implementation of this important task. The project provides for establishment of a university of a new generation where absolutely new approaches to addressing scientific, educational and social problems will be applied," G. Mutanov added.
