>University Sports Federation (FISU) announced it at a special briefing on Monday in Almaty.
"Given the severe economic crisis that has overtaken many countries, the willingness of your country to host the Universiade-2017 is a good guarantee from the Government of Kazakhstan," says Leonz Eder, Vice-President of the International University Sports Federation.
"Almaty is a good candidate. Your city has good sports traditions. You have the Academy of Sports and Tourism. Another important advantage is that the Universiade has never been held in the Central Asian region," Mr. Leonz Eder added.
