During talks in Tehran with Pakistan’s army chief, Pezeshkian commended him and PM Sharif for their “effective role” in the mediation process and in helping facilitate the ceasefire.

He also thanked Pakistan for hosting the Iranian delegation during talks in Islamabad. He further noted that Iran’s recent actions targeting US military bases in the region were undertaken as a defensive necessity in response to imposed conditions.

Earlier, it was reported that in March the United States and Israel had carried out strikes on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, with Iranian officials reporting no radiation leaks or risk to nearby populations.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said the Natanz enrichment complex, including the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan facility, had been targeted earlier that day. Authorities stated that monitoring systems had detected no release of radioactive materials and confirmed that surrounding areas remained safe.

Natanz, located about 220 km southeast of Tehran, is one of Iran’s key uranium enrichment sites. The facility had previously sustained damage during earlier rounds of hostilities in 2025.

International oversight bodies were also informed. The UN nuclear watchdog reported no increase in off-site radiation levels and said it was continuing to assess the situation. Its head reiterated calls for restraint to reduce the risk of a nuclear-related incident.

The developments came amid ongoing tensions, with Washington stating that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remained a central objective. Iranian officials indicated that the country possessed a stockpile of highly enriched uranium, though its intended use remained disputed.

According to U.S. Central Command, thousands of targets across Iran had been struck since the escalation began, with officials saying Iran’s military capacity was weakening.

As Qazinform News Agency reported earlier, following the announcement of the ceasefire agreement, US President Donald Trump shared plans to host the leaders of Israel and Lebanon at the White House for further negotiations.
