Unemployment rate in East Kazakhstan region - 6.6%
UST KAMENOGORSK. August 14. KAZINFORM. /Lyudmila Malko/ As of August 1, 2009 the number of the registered unemployed residents in East Kazakhstan region was 9,100 people or 1.2% of the economically active population.
"Meanwhile as a result of monitoring of the employment situation in East Kazakhstan oblast, the number of unemployed persons in the second quarter of 2009 made up 50,600 people and the level of unemployment reached 6.6%", Head of the region's statistics department Olga Fyodorova informs.
According to her, the survey is conducted in line with the standards of the International Labor Organization once every three months. It registers whether a person is employed; looking for a job; ready to start work. Thus the data obtained from such monitoring is much different from the data presented by labor offices.
