UN Secretary-General to visit Kazakhstan
Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres will visit Kazakhstan at the invitation of the Kazakh President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on August 3, Kazinform News Agency reports.
In Almaty, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and António Guterres will hold talks and visit the United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan.
According to the United Nations in Kazakhstan, the UN and Kazakhstan are expected to sign an agreement on the establishment of the United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan. Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu and UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua will ink the agreement. The Centre will become an important platform for the promotion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on the regional level.
It was reported, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was set to visit Kyrgyzstan in early July.
