UN Sec Gen to visit Semey
SEMEY. April 5. KAZINFORM /Lina Slavina/ UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is expected to visit Semey on Tuesday during his official visit to Kazakhstan.
As the department of internal policy of the city informed, Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Semey airport on Tuesday and after arrival go to Kurchatov town. Here the Secretary General together with the Kazakh Secretary of State - Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN Birganym Aitimova, Governors of East Kazakhstan region and Semey city, heads of departments and UN specialists on different issues will visit "Tokamak" nuclear technologies park, survey the places were nuclear weapons were tested within 40 years and deliver a speech on nuclear free world issues.
Other members of the delegation, accompanying the UN Secretary General will work in Semey. The program of their visit includes meetings with representatives of the Joint United Nations Program in the region, visiting the Radiological Center of the regional Oncologic dispensary, participation in presentation of the Institute for Radiation Medicine and Ecology.
