UN: Kazakhstan in TOP20 Leading countries in terms of direct investment
ASTANA. November 29. KAZINFORM - According to the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Kazakhstan ranked 19th among the top 20 leading countries in terms of attracting direct investment, this has been announced today at a press conference by the Deputy Chairman of "KAZNEX Invest'' National Agency for Export and Investment'' JSC Kairat Karmanov.
"From 2005 to the first half of 2013, Kazakhstan has attracted USD 172 of foreign direct investment. Last year was a record as there were attracted USD 28.8 billion of foreign direct investment. It is nearly nine percent higher in 2011", said Karmanov.
According to him, the first half of 2013 gross inflows of foreign direct investment in the manufacturing sector amounted to USD 1.6 billion. Karmanov noted that to achieve the results Kazakhstan demonstated the investment opportunities abroad. This year, the agency conducted three roadshows abroad which were attended by more than 330 foreign companies.
"There have been attracted foreign investors from Turkey, Italy, the UK, Germany and Switzerland in automotive industry, chemical industry, energy and transport logistics", said Karmanov.
He also added that the current year the video was made on investment opportunities in Kazakhstan by the famous director Timur Bekmambetov. Broadcast took place on leading international television channels such as CNN, Euronews and Bloomberg.
