Ukraine to get rid of highly enriched uranium: White House

WASHINGTON. April 13. KAZINFORM Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich agreed on Monday to give up all its stockpile of highly enriched uranium by 2012, said the White House; Kazinform refers to China Daily.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs made the announcement minutes after US President Barack Obama met with Yanukovich on the margins of the Nuclear Security Summit.
"This is something the United States has tried to make happen for several years," according to Gibbs. Ukraine is expected to eliminate all the materials by the next nuclear security summit in 2012; Kazinform cites China Daily.
