"Ukraine's stance is simple: the country is already a member of the World Trade Organization. In order to enter the Customs Union, it would have to revise the agreements signed with other countries within the WTO framework. Nobody is going to do that," said the diplomat.

He stressed that the Customs Union looks interesting to Ukraine and the country is intent on being part of the WTO while working with the Customs Union.

According to the diplomat, work is underway to analyze the legal base of the Customs Union and find ways and opportunities to use the Customs Union without damaging the avenues of cooperation that evolved before. "We need to find the forms of cooperation that would be beneficial both for the Customs Union, every member state, and for Ukraine. We have to keep normal routines in cooperation between Ukraine and each of the three countries," said Alexander Sosyura.

The diplomat also believes that Belarus' accession to the Customs Union will not drastically change the level of trade and economic cooperation with Ukraine.
