UK Minister for Trade and Investment to visit Kazakhstan

"During his first visit to Kazakhstan, the British Minister for Trade and Investment will be accompanied by Professor Charles Hendry, the trade envoy of the Prime Minister of Great Britain in Kazakhstan Mr. David Wootton, co-chairman of the Kazakh-British Trade and Industry Council (KBTIC) and representatives of British business," the statement reads. The establishment of this Commission was proposed when the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met during the Prime Minister's visit to Kazakhstan on 30 June-1 July 2013. It is aimed at providing a senior government to government dialogue for stronger business engagement. The IGC will focus on three areas of economic activity including trade and investment; education, science and culture; and energy. The inauguration of the UK-Kazakhstan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) took place at Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London on 30 October 2013. "This year, about 30 British companies will arrive in Kazakhstan in the framework of the IGC to meet their Kazakh partners. In addition the IGC will also organize several roundtables, which will provide a platform for direct dialogue between representatives of the British and Kazakh business," underlined the statement. At the first meeting of the UK-Kazakhstan IGC several bilateral memoranda will be signed.
