UAE started 3-day mourning for death of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince

DUBAI. October 24. KAZINFORM United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced a three-day mourning period from Sunday for the death of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, UAE's state news agency WAM said.

The UAE national flags are flown at half-mast at the country's government departments and institutions, WAM said.

President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his heartfelt condolences to Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the family of Al Saud, WAM said.

According to Xinhua, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the heir apparent to the Saudi throne, died in New York Saturday undergoing treatment for an illness. He had also served as Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General.

He had various medical issues in recent years, and had traveled to Morocco for treatments. He had been in the United States since June and underwent a medical operation in July.
