U.S. congratulates N. Nazarbayev on victory in presidential elections

"We congratulate President Nursultan Nazarbayev on his re-election as President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We look forward to continuing to work with him and the people of Kazakhstan to implement our broad-ranging strategic partnership.

We endorse the preliminary conclusions of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). We appreciate the improvements it noted. We urge the government of Kazakhstan to rapidly address the shortcomings the report highlighted. We welcome Kazakhstan's commitments to further liberalize the political environment and believe that continued improvements in the electoral process are critical components", a press release of the U.S. Embassy in Astana reads.
