U.S. Ambassador opens American Corner in Pavlodar
ASTANA. April 13. KAZINFORM On April 17 at 10:30 the U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Fairfax will officially open an American Corner at the S. Toraygyrov Pavlodar Oblast Universal Scientific Library.
The American Corner, a project undertaken jointly by the U.S. Embassy and the library, will provide current and reliable information about the United States and will serve as a venue for a variety of events and activities. At the opening ceremony Ambassador Fairfax will be joined by Akim of Pavlodar Oblast Yerlan Aryn and library director Maya Zhienbayeva.
The library is providing a room for the American Corner, as well as an English-speaking American Corner coordinator who will help visitors interested in American culture. Its multimedia materials, books, and periodicals will be accessible to the public. The U.S. embassy and library staff host different events at the corner that will expand understanding of the United States, such as discussions featuring guest speakers from the United States, master classes given by American musicians, movie nights showing American films, and exhibitions of American art and photography.
