Two projects of green economy to be launched in 2012
ASTANA. June 12. KAZINFORM The plants on waste processing and tire recycling will be launched in Astana in 2012, Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kapparov said Monday at the Government Hour in the Majilis, Kazinform refers to the Prime Minister's official website.
"The plants on waste processing and tire recycling will be opened in Astana. These projects are a beginning of green business in the sphere of waste processing in Kazakhstan," the Minister said.
Besides, he informed that "Zhasyl Damu" Program for 2010-2014 was currently implemented. Within this Program, construction and reconstruction of waste water treatment plant in Aktobe, Uralsk, Aktau, Zhanaozen, Beineu, Kuryk and in Tugyl village in East Kazakhstan region completed. Besides, implementation of the project on cleaning of the Komendantka river and the bed of the river Pionerskaya in East Kazakhstan region was completed.
Besides, the initiative on reforming the National Hydrometeorological Service - "Kazgidromet" into the company of global monitoring of soil, air and water including the Caspian Sea is being developed.
In this regard, the Ministry of Environment Protection of Kazakhstan plans to cooperate with non-governmental organizations which include more than 200 environmental ones. They take active part in development and implementation of environment policy, participate in the meetings held in the regions and their representatives are the members of the public environmental council under the Ministry of Environment Protection of Kazakhstan.
Besides, the Minister also informed about improvement of the legislation in this sphere. Thus, the Laws "On support of using renewable sources of energy" and "On energy saving" have been adopted and they will allow to increase the number of environmentally sound energy sources in the energy structure such as gas and renewable energy sources.
N. Kapparov also told about preservation of fertility of soil, water and biologic recourses. Moreover, using formerly inaccessible renewable energy sources will allow farmers to have always available energy and water independently which is also to increase export of meat, dairy products, fruits, vegetables and the other types of agricultural products.
"Woodlands play invaluable role for preserving environmental stability, water quality and water supply for the population. Protection and restoration of forests are priority directions they are supported at the international level by special financial mechanisms due to increasing demand for environmental services from woodlands for preserving climate and biodiversity," he added.
