Two launches are expected from Baikonur spaceport

KONUR. September 17. KAZINFORM /Sara Kabikyzy/ Two boost rockets will be launched today from Baikonur spaceport. The first launch is scheduled at 9.55pm (Astana time) from the platform 31. This will be the launch of Soyuz-2 boost rocket with the first Russian weather orbiter Meteor-M on its board.

The second launch will be at 11.19pm (Moscow time). It is a boost rocket Proton-M with upper-stage rocket Briz-M and Canadian telecommunication space vehicle Nimiq 5.

As reported earlier, the launch of Soyuz-2 scheduled for September 15 was postponed two times due to the technical failure. The press service of Roscosmos noted the importance of the launch as other five space vehicles will be launched along with the first Russian meteorological satellite Meteor-M.

The preparation for the launch of Proton-M rocket equipped with Briz-M upper-stage rocket and Canadian telecommunication space vehicle Nimiq 5 is held on schedule of the third launch day.
