District police chief Mohamad Yusri Hassan Basri said all 24 victims were Indian tourists aboard the bus on their way down from the Genting Highlands.

He said the bus hit the road divider and flipped in the opposite lane.

Two drivers of the bus sustained light injury.

The fatalities were a woman in her 50's and a man, according to police.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident although witnesses said the tragedy might have resulted from faulty brake as the bus was making sound and did not appear to be slowing down before the accident.

Mohamad Yusri said police are still collecting information from the tour agency that the group travelled with and would contact the Indian embassy once they have their details.
