Twenty-four items on agenda of CIS ministerial meeting in Minsk

MINSK. KAZINFORM - The agenda of the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers that will convene in Minsk on 9 October will include 24 items, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei will preside over the meeting.

The meeting participants are scheduled to discuss the draft address of the heads of the CIS states to the peoples of the CIS countries and international community in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War and review the status of implementation of the action plan to implement the CIS development concept.

A large block of issues is dedicated to humanitarian cooperation. The CIS Foreign Ministers will discuss the action plans to develop humanitarian cooperation in 2015-2016, the cooperation development strategy in tourism, the implementation of the interstate program "CIS Capitals of Culture" in 2015 and also the issues of awarding the status of the CIS base institutions to five higher educational institutions and R&D establishments, BelTA reports.

Considerable attention will be paid to security issues in the CIS. The agenda includes the draft program of cooperation in countering illegal migration and the concept of cooperation in the fight against trafficking in human beings. Cooperation in the area of border security at the external borders of the CIS and between financial intelligence units will be also on the agenda.

The meeting participants are also expected to discuss a number of documents as part of the work to take stock of the CIS legal framework.
