TURKSOI Opera Days Festival dedicated to Kazakh composer Tulebayev under way in Turkey

ISTANBUL. June 8. KAZINFORM - Turkish city of Samsun, on the Black Sea coast, is hosting the 16th festival titled "TURKSOI Opera Days", dedicated to the memory of the Kazakh composer Mukan Tulebayev. We are reminding that in connection with the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh composer, whose works became the property of the Turkic world, this year has been declared the Year of Mukan Tulebayev. This year the event is taking place within the framework of the International Festival of Musical Arts in Samsun.

At the opening of the Festival the TURKSOI Secretary General Kaseinov in his speech emphasized the role of Mukan Tulebayev for the opera music of the Turkic world. He noted that this fall in the same city there would be presented a "Birzhan and Sara" opera by Mukan Tulebayev.

This year the cultural event is attended by 12 opera singers from 8 countries and regions of the Turkic world, they are Elena Filinkova (Kazakhstan), Sabina Vahabzadeh (Azerbaijan), Aslima Maktagulova, Khalid Nuraly, Kunduz Karyppaeva (Kyrgyzstan), Baris Yanch and Nona Tsutskuridze (Turkey ), Enver Tugrul Torah (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), Rigina Valieva (Tatarstan, Russia), Zakir Valiev and Lyubov Butorina (Bashkortostan, Russia), Damyrak Mongouch (Tuva, Russia). They are performing arias from the works of Mukan Tulebayev and the world classics.

The festival will continue in other cities of the Black Sea coast of Turkey - Ordu, Giresun and Trabzon, then moves to Ankara and will be completed in Kyrenia of North Cyprus.

Mukan Tulebayev (1913-1960) is an outstanding composer, who made a great contribution to the development of the Kazakh national music.

He was born March 13, 1913 in the village of Karashagan, Almaty region of Kazakhstan. He studied at the Almaty Pedagogical College, and the Kazakh opera studio at the Moscow Conservatory. In 1941-1945 he took lessons from E.G.Brusilovskiyi. In 1951 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class of professors Miaskovsky and Fere.

M.Tulebaev is the author of "Amangeldi" opera (with E.G.Brusilovskiyi), the music of former national anthem of Kazakhstan (with E.G.Brusilovskiyi and Hamidi).

Valuable contribution to the Kazakh opera music was his opera called "Birzhan and Sara." He created the orchestral and chamber works, and more than 50 songs and ballads, folk songs, music for productions of the Kazakh Drama Theater after Auezov and for many films. His work was recognized with state awards.
