TURKPA - reputed dialogue platform that brings the Turkic-speaking states together: Meeting in Ankara
ASTANA. June 11. KAZINFORM Majilis Speaker of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatullin has met with President of Turkey Abdullah Gul within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-speaking countries (TURKPA) which is underway in Ankara, the press service of the lower chamber reports.
Turkey was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan's independence more than 20 years ago. Today it is one of the key foreign partners of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting the Turkish President highly estimated Kazakhstan's success, especially emphasizing the relevance of Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiatives for the whole Turkic-speaking world.
Having exchanged views on a wide spectrum of issues as regards the Kazakh-Turkish cooperation, the interlocutors paid special attention to the problems of unity in actions of the Turkic-speaking countries.
Both Nurlan Nigmatullin and Abdullah Gul commended TURKPA as a reputed dialogue platform that brings the Turkic-speaking nations together.
The Kazakh Majilis Speaker stressed that TURKPA, initiated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, helps Turkic-speaking nations move to a brand new level of strategic partnership.
"Consolidated efforts of MPs within TURKPA will preserve the cultural heritage of the Turkic civilization as well as promote the role of the Turkic-speaking countries in the modern world," N. Nigmatullin added.
This year the chairmanship of TURKPA will pass from Kyrgyzstan to Turkey.
