Turkish military and ethnic brass band Mehter a special guest at Astana Samal int'l festival
ASTANA. June 17. KAZINFORM - "Mehter" Turkish military ethnic brass band will be the special guest of the international festival of brass bands called "Astana Samal." It is reported by media group headquarters of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 15th anniversary of the capital.
"Mehter" is the name of the oldest military band in the world. Music of a military band "Mehter" in Turkish tradition was not entertaining, it symbolized the greatness and power of the country. In the Turkish understanding of the state, the unity of the people and the greatness of the state are paramount.
Osmands are the first to invent music into the military. Once a city has been conquered, "Mehter" - the world's oldest military brass band - paraded before the Osmand commander in a procession through the city, playing a slow march in an unusual minor key. Ringing cymbals and kettledrums and moan oboes praised the conqueror and urged local residents that they are now part of a new, completely different civilization. Music of the orchestra had an impact on the Europeans who began to set up military bands.
Now this famous orchestra arrives in Astana for International Brass Band Festival named "Astana Samal" dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the capital. Besides "Mehter," the festival will be attended by brass bands from Kazakhstan, the CIS and other foreign countries.
