Turkish men wear skirts to protest brutal murder of woman
ANKARA. KAZINFORM - A group of men wearing skirts gathered in downtown İstanbul on Saturday to protest the brutal killing of Özgecan Aslan, a 20-year-old university student, allegedly after she resisted rape.
The men posed proudly to cameras with their skirts during the protest on İstiklal Street, Kazinform refers to Today's Zaman .
The killing of Aslan caused outrage and sparked protests across Turkey against the murder of women. Aslan was stabbed to death by the driver of a minibus she took to go home on Feb. 11. Her body was burned after the murder.
The minibus driver initially confessed to killing Aslan after she resisted rape but then changed his testimony, saying they had argued about which route to take and that he had lost temper and kicked Aslan when she had assaulted him and sprayed him with pepper gas.
