Trade with Iran is planned to increase to $1 billion – N.Nazarbayev

ASTANA. KAZINFORM -This year Kazakhstan expects to increase trade with Iran to USD 1 billion, this was announced today at the Kazakh-Iranian business forum by President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"Iran is one of the most important economic partners of Kazakhstan in the Middle East. However, bilateral trade in recent years, due to the situation in the global economy and in Europe, has fallen. But according to the first half of 2014, trade is growing and we expect that it will reach USD 1 billion", said Nursultan Nazarbayev opening the Kazakh-Iranian business forum in Astana. Head of State said that the parties have conducted intensive, confidential talks, raised the problems of all sectors of economy, politics and regional security. "Next year, we expect that the new Kazakh-Turkmen section of Bereket-Gorgan railway, a connecting node between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf, will increase the trade turnover between the two states to USD 2 billion", said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
