ANA. October 8. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Tourism creates over 75 mln jobs worldwide, Secretary General of the UNWTO Taleb Rifai has said delivering his speech at the Astana Independence Palace today.
As per the estimates of the World Travel and Tourism council, 77 mln jobs were created in industry in 2009 due to tourism which makes 2.7% of employment and around 220 mln jobs were created directly in this sphere (7.6% of employment), the report reads.
In addition, tourism plays a key role in export sector of economy especially in developing countries (up to 45% in export of services), the Sec Gen stressed.
