Top 5 dishes served to celebrate World Nomad Games in Kazakh capital
Foreign guests enjoyed the richness of the Kazakh culture, national sports, and traditional Kazakh cuisine served to celebrate the V World Nomad Games held in Astana, Kazinform News Agency cites the Tourism and Sports Ministry.
The Ministry presents the top 5 Kazakh dishes popular among foreigners.
One of the most popular dishes is definitely the besbarmaq - a traditional dish of boiled meat (including lamb, beef, horse or camel meat) and thin squares of homemade noodles (zhaima) served with hearty broth. Traditionally it is served with national delicacies such as kazy, shuzhyk, zhal, zhaya and potato.
Baursak comes second. It is puffy fried bread served on special occasions. Baursak can be found in various forms across Kazakhstan but always deep-fried.
Kymyz stands third on the list. It is made by fermenting mare milk. Its slightly sour and sweet taste stirred interest among tourists. They tried this drink not only as a unique culinary experience but also as an element of ancient nomadic traditions.
Kurt is placed fourth. Its salty and unusual taste evoked admiration among foreign guests, who were happy to try this authentic product, a part of Kazakh cuisine.
Shubat, fermented camel’s milk, rounds out the top 5 popular dishes. It is more distinctive to the west and south of Kazakhstan.

It is noteworthy, Team Kazakhstan added 25 more medals at the 5th World Nomad Games to bring their total medal count to 114, including 44 gold, 33 silver and 37 bronze ones, before the tournament wraps up.
