Tony Blair visits Nazarbayev University in Astana

ASTANA. May 25. KAZINFORM Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair delivered a lecture on "Challenges and opportunities in the global world" for students and staff of the Nazarbayev University (NU).

Ex-Prime Minister of Great Britain confessed that when he was young he was more into rock'n'roll than politics. In addition, Tony Blair said he places his stake on the young generation as he believes that the most important thing it to be open to the opportunities the world around us offers and be able to made informed decisions.

In his speech Mr. Blair mentioned that Kazakhstan could be proud it celebrates the 20th anniversary of its independence under the leadership of President Nazarbayev. At the same time he stressed Kazakhstan was at the new stage of economic, social and political development.

NU students and staff were able to ask questions during the meeting with the British politician. Tony Blair said the students were the future leaders and elite of the country and wished them successful academic life. He especially emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and strive for new knowledge.
