Tokyo street robbery leaves woman injured, ¥8 million missing
Two suspects remain at large after allegedly robbing about 8 million yen ($50,000) from a Chinese woman on a street near Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo, police said Thursday, Kyodo reported.
The woman, in her 60s, suffered minor head injuries during the attack, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Toshima Ward. According to police, the suspects sprayed the victim and struck her on the head before stealing a bag containing cash and fleeing the scene.
Police are investigating the case as robbery and assault and are searching for the suspects. The incident took place in a busy commercial area with restaurants and shops.
Earlier, it was reported that at least 12 people were killed and nine others injured in a mass shooting at an informal settlement in Johannesburg.
