Tokyo raises COVID alert to highest amid resurgence of infections

TOKYO. KAZINFORM - The Tokyo metropolitan government raised its COVID-19 alert to the highest of four levels Thursday amid a resurgence of coronavirus infections, Kyodo reports.
The decision was made after the highly-transmissible BA.5 Omicron subvariant saw Japan enter its seventh wave of infections.
