Tokayev takes part in 1st meeting of Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan

The Kazakh Head of State once again congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the landslide victory in the presidential elections. According to him, the results of the elections is clear evidence of the high trust and nationwide support for the strategic course of the Azerbaijani leader.

You’re a recognized leader of the Azerbaijani people and that’s exactly how you’re seen in the international arena. Besides, we congratulate Azerbaijan on the historic victory and regained sovereignty over its own territory, said Tokayev.

The Kazakh President stressed that Astana and Baku demonstrate the high level of cooperation, promote new areas of joint work.

The level of cooperation and interaction is very high. With great gratitude I accept the invitation to attend the COP29 Summit, which is a great historic achievement for Azerbaijan and its diplomacy. The Summit is of primary importance in terms of settlement of significant environmental issues and global cooperation, said the Kazakh Head of State. 

The Kazakh leader noted the positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan has risen five-fold since 2020… Our countries have great economic potential… It’s true that we have a broad range of cooperation, as we’ve discussed it today, beginning from transport and logistics, to digitalization, not to say oil and gas, said Tokayev.

The Kazakh Head of State also expressed satisfaction with the work of the two countries in the international arena. ‘Our delegations in the UN and other international organizations successfully interact’.

According to him, the implementation of the agreements reached between the countries in the field of culture contribute to the Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations.

So, twin-city relations were established between the sacred cities of Turkestan and Şuşa, as well as Uralsk and Mingachevir, and Shymkent and Ganja.

The perpetuation of the memory and opening of a street after Akhmet Baitursynov in Sumgait and Heydar Aliyev Street in Astana was a landmark event for our countries. Last year, Azerbaijan successfully held the days of culture of Kazakhstan. Tomorrow, we’re to inaugurate a center of children’s creativity named after Kurmangazy in Fuzuli, said Tokayev.

The Kazakh President believes that the work of the Supreme Interstate Council will give a strong impetus to the cooperation between the two countries and will bring the Kazakhstani-Azerbaijani relations to new heights.

The first meeting of Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan focused on the issues of development of cooperation in trade and economic, investment, oil and gas, transport and logistics spheres as well as RES, digital communications and cultural and humanitarian interaction.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had arrived in Azerbaijan for a state visit. The Kazah leader was greeted at the Zagulba Residence of the Azerbaijan President. Later, President Tokayev held talks with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev.
