Tokayev signs law establishing UN Regional Center in Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law on the ratification of the memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations regarding the United Nations Regional Center for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing Akorda.

The document provides for the establishment of a United Nations Regional Center in Kazakhstan, which will be responsible for promoting and coordinating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The text of the law will be published in the press.

Earlier, António Guterres said the opening of the Center symbolizes a new era of cooperation in Central Asia, which is based on common priorities and joint solutions.
