As you know, lately factors such as climate change, political and economic instability, disruption in international supply chains have been negatively affecting food security. The number of those hungry and affected by food shortage has increased to 830 million in the world. Nevertheless, the UN predicts the number of world population is to increase by 2 billion by 2050. According to experts, the Eurasian Economic Union’s food, resource and export potential is capable of literally feeding around 600 million people if fully realized. And these forecasts are real enough, said Kazakh Head of State Tokayev at the 19th Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum.

According to the Kazakh President, the volume of agricultural GDP has more than doubled in Kazakhstan in the past five years. The country’s agricultural export has also doubled to reach almost $6bn.

Earlier it was reported that the XIX Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum themed ‘Agriculture is the basis for strong economy’ had kicked off in Kostanay region.
