Tokayev: Critical minerals exploration and production – promising area of Kazakhstan-China cooperation

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev named the exploration and production of critical minerals a promising area of the cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.

According to him, rare-earth metals became an important component for a wide range of technologies. They are needed for the achievement of net-zero emissions, including in such strategic sectors as industry, digital technologies, space and defense.

He said that Kazakhstan keeps on working with the international partners on effective methods of exploration of the country’s major deposits of uranium, lithium, tetanus, and other rare-earth elements.

In conclusion, the Kazakh leader expressed confidence that Asian region can play a decisive role in determining the future global landscape, by implementing its economic, technological and cultural advantages. In this context, he pointed out promising outlook of such important international dialogue platforms as the Boao Forum for Asia, Astana International Forum. Taking this opportunity, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited the BFA guests to attend the oncoming Astana Economic Forum.
