Timur Suleimenov reappointed as Kazakhstan's National Bank Governor

By the Head of State's decree, Timur Suleimenov has been appointed Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Suleimenov began his career as a chief consultant at Ernst & Young Kazakhstan in Almaty, later serving as Director of the Tax Accounting and Tax Planning Department at KazMunayGas Exploration & Production.

He has held various senior government positions, including:

• Vice Minister of Economy and Budget Planning (March 2009 – March 2010)
• Vice Minister of Economic Development and Trade (March 2010 – February 2012)
• Member of the Board (Minister) of the Eurasian Economic Commission for Economy and Financial Policy (February 2012 – April 2017)
• Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan (December 2016 – February 2019)
• Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (March 2019)
• Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan (March – July 2019)
• Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President of Kazakhstan (July 2019 – January 2022)
• First Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President (January 2022 – September 2023)
• Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (since September 2023)

Education

• Pavlodar State University – Management (2000)
• University of Maryland – MBA, Finance (2002), under the Bolashak scholarship program
• Certified by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
