Tighter cooperation with CIS named priority of Russia’s foreign policy

MINSK. June 11. KAZINFORM The development of comprehensive cooperation with the CIS states is a priority avenue of Russia's foreign policy. The statement was made by Igor Gromyko, head of the permanent representation of Russia in the CIS, at the opening of a photo exhibition in the CIS Executive Committee on 10 June. The exhibition is dedicated to the Day of Russia; Kazinform refers to BelTA.

The Day of Russia has been marked since 1992 every year on 12 June, the day the declaration on the national sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) was adopted. The Russian diplomat believes this holiday is a symbol of unity of all the peoples that live in the Russian Federation and of their joint responsibility for the present and the future of the country.

Igor Gromyko stressed that the development of comprehensive cooperation with the CIS states is a priority of Russia's foreign policy. It is the direct result of the declaration that was passed 21 years ago to manifest the respect for sovereign rights of all peoples of the former USSR. For Russia there is no personal progress without the progress of its friends in the Commonwealth of Independent States, he said; Kazinform cites BelTA.
