Tien Shan brown caught on trap camera in Zhongar-Alatau National Park

The wildlife camera trap caught a glimpse of a rare Tien Shan brown (Himalayan) bear in the Zhongar-Alatau National Park, Kazinform News Agency has learned from the Kazakh Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

The Himalayan brown bear is listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and the Red List of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The animal is classified as a mammal and is found within the reserve at an altitude of 1,500-3,500 meters above sea level. The bear's body length can reach 1.5 to 2.2 meters, with a weight of 135 to 200 kilograms.

Earlier it was reported that a rare Persian leopard was captured in the Ustyurt State Nature Reserve.
