Thunderstorms and heat up to 40°C forecast across Kazakhstan
Kazhydromet issued storm warnings for June 16 in 16 regions and in the cities of Astana and Almaty, with severe thunderstorms and extreme heat expected across the country, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds are expected in northern, central, and eastern regions, including Astana, with wind gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in some areas.
Temperatures are forecast to rise to 35-40 degrees Celsius across southern, central, and eastern Kazakhstan, with the highest readings, up to 40 degrees Celsius, expected in the Kyzylorda region.
Meteorologists have also warned of high to extreme wildfire risk across large parts of the country, particularly in the Abai, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, and Ulytau regions.
In Almaty, temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, while thunderstorms may develop in the surrounding mountainous regions.
