Three, including police officer, killed in Iraq violence

BAGHDAD. September 29. KAZINFORM Three people, including a police station chief, were killed and another eight wounded in bomb and gunfire attacks, police said Wednesday. Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

In the early hours of Wednesday, gunmen believed to be al-Qaida militants stormed the house of Major Sa'id Ali, chief of the al- Jillam police station, and shot him dead in front of his family members in the city of Samarra, some 120 km north of Baghdad, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

In a separate incident, a bomb exploded outside a Sunni mosque in the town of Tarmiyah in the north of Baghdad late on Tuesday, killing two worshippers and wounded eight others, a local police source told Xinhua.
