The Union State maintains its creative role in the Eurasian integration - Grits
MINSK. KAZINFORM - The Union State maintains its creative role in the Eurasian integration, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Science and Industry Association Georgy Grits told BelTA as he commented on the Union State Supreme State Council meeting in Moscow.
In his words, the Union State remains relevant despite the development of other integration associations in the post-Soviet space, such as the Customs Union, the Single Economic Space and the Eurasian Economic Union. "The Union State plays the role of an innovator. The Belarus-Russia Union has always been ahead in these integration processes," Georgy Grits noted.
The results of the recent session of the Union State Supreme State Council testify to the fact: the parties signed a number of agreements in social and migration policy. Belarus and Russia agreed to continue work on the creation of the common visa space. The countries are set to prepare an agreement on the mutual acknowledgement of visas issued to foreigners. "It is an evolutionary step, something close to the Schengen zone," the expert stressed.
In his words, the Union state got a new format of cooperation, i.e. development of anti-crisis programs. The similar plan was signed by the Premiers of Belarus and Russia at the sidelines of the Supreme State Council. The document creates additional conditions for trade and economic cooperation development, BelTA reports.
The Supreme State Council considered routines matters related to integration construction. The parties adopted the Union State budget for 2015, confirmed priority areas and overriding tasks for the Union State development through 2017. According to Georgy Grits, such stability is of utmost importance today.
