The UN Secretary General's Representative estimated Kazakhstan role in promotion of interfaith and intercultural dialog
LISBON-BRUSSELS. March 14. KAZINFORM Chairman of Kazakh Senate Kairat Mami sent a formal invitation to the United Nations Secretary-General's High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio to participate in 4th Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on May 30-31, in Astana.
J. Sampaio highly appreciated and thanked for the personal invitation to the Congress. He emphasized the great role of Kazakhstan and its President Nursultan Nazarbayev in promotion of interfaith and interethnic mutual understanding. "Paying special attention to these issues, Kazakhstan is a good example of practical implementation of tolerance policy and shares its experience with global community," he said.
J. Sampaio suggested holding the Regional Forum of Alliance of Civilizationsin in Astana.
The parties debated the purpose of the Congress, its global role in promoting dialogue among civilizations, the agenda of events and current topics for discussion at the panel meetings.
