The seminar called «Central Asia: Hydrocarbon development and the challenge of Climate Change» held in Almaty
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A scientific seminar called "Central Asia: Hydrocarbon development and the challenge of Climate Change" was held on April 16, 2015 in Almaty. The seminar was organized by the Foundation of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). The partner of this seminar from the Kazakh side became the Kazakh National Technical University (KazNTU) named after Kuanysh Satpayev, Kazinform refers to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
The gathering was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mussinov, Rector of the KazNTU named Zh. Adilov, Executive Director of the ASEF Zhang Yan, President of the Asia Centre Jean-François Di Meglio, as well as a number of Kazakhstan's and foreign scientists and academics.
This seminar is a part of the two-year research, which is being conducted by the Asia Centre (an independent research institute with headquarters in Paris, which conducts research on the strategic and economic development in the Asia-Pacific region) in partnership with the ASEM Foundation and which is designed to explore challenges in ensuring energy safety and decreasing negative impact on environment.
In the course of the seminar, the participants discussed the issues of macroeconomics and key development trends of the world energy, including of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, modern highly qualified staff training aimed at ensuring sustainable development, as well as climate change issues, etc.
The participants of the seminar presented a number of new and interesting initiatives.
Kazakhstan became a member of the Asia-Europe Meeting in Oct. 2014, during the 10thASEM Summit in Milan.
Activities of the ASEM are aimed at creating conditions to ensure equitable and open dialogue between European and Asian countries in economic, political and socio-cultural areas of cooperation.
