The Netherlands hosted International Conference on Human Rights 2013

ASTANA. July 17. KAZINFORM International Conference on Human Rights, organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights took place on July 8-10 in the Netherlands.

Chairman of the Human Rights Commission under the President, Kazakh senator Kuanysh Sultanov attended this important for the world community event.

More than 300 participants, including representatives of local authorities, international organizations, UN agencies, as well as specially invited experts and lawyers in the field of human rights from 130 countries took part in the conference.

During his visit, Kuanysh Sultanov met with UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin and Hans Franken, Second Vice-President of the Netherland's Senate.

B. Osotimehin stressed Kazakhstan's contribution to the provision of international and regional security and stability, as well as readiness to fully support the decision of issues on the agenda of the UN and the international community. The UNFPA Executive Director highly appreciated the national and international initiatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at solving the global problems of humanity.

During the meeting with H. Franken, the sides talked about further development of parliamentarian cooperaton and exchanged views on relevant issues of bilateral and multilateral agendas.
