Thailand intends to cooperate with Kazakhstan in energy

ASTANA. August 20. KAZINFORM - The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Yessenbayev in Thailand held a meeting with the Minister of Energy of Thailand Pongsak Ruktapongpisal, during which they discussed the prospects of Kazakh-Thai cooperation in the energy field, says the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

M.Yessenbayev informed the head of the institution of the modern economic development of Kazakhstan, the state of the oil and gas industry, nuclear and coal industries, and introduced the basic provisions of "Kazakhstan - 2050" Strategy for transition to a "green" economy and the state program of forced industrial and innovation development.

During the meeting the Kazakh diplomat conveyed the invitation of the Ministry to participate in the VIII Eurasian Forum «KAZENERGY» (8-9 October) and 21st Kazakhstan International Exhibition "Oil and Gas" (1-4 October).

For his part, I.Ruktapongpisal said that the Thai government highly appreciates bilateral relations with Kazakhstan. He noted that the existing great potential in certain areas of partnerships currently not used in full.

The Minister expressed interest in investing in construction of thermal power plants in Kazakhstan. In his view, favorable geographical location of the country can be used for export of surplus power to neighboring countries, thus opening great opportunities for potential Thai investors.

Following the meeting, it was agreed to continue discussing the possibility of organizing a visit of the Thai Minister to Kazakhstan to conduct appropriate meetings and talks on possibility of investment and bilateral energy cooperation.
